The IAA CS (Commercial Services) provides services to the retrofit industry, championing to improve quality within the sector through its training and newly established National Energy Efficiency Centre as well as offering services for testing, design and assessment activities.
Backed by almost 30 years of experience, The IAA and The IAACS can provide both established and growing companies with essential services whilst fulfilling their compliance needs.
Air Source Heat Pumps offer a sustainable alternative to traditional heating, and skilled installers are in high demand. Recent figures suggest that ASHP installations could reach 1.5 million in the UK by 2028.

To be accepted and useful, defined career progression pathways must both reflect what is happening in an increasingly dynamic employment market “on the ground” and be able to be integrated with public education and employment systems so that the impact of various interventions can be measured in a statistically robust way.
The Installation Assurance Authority have developed a career framework “starter” that can be recognised, used, and adapted by industry and government agencies. This framework uses IFATE Occupational Families and Standards (OS), National Occupational Standards (NOS), Standard Occupational Classifications (SOC) and extracts from O*NET (US Dept. Labor) to describe roles within pathways that reflect current, and project future, career development pathways throughout the United Kingdom.

The Cavity Wall Insulation Training Rigs provide a practical showcase and training environment for relevant mineral wool and blown bead insulation products.
These training rigs will allow visitors to see the process of cavity wall insulation and extraction, understand the key benefits of cavity wall insulation, understand the products available and some of the key requirements to ensure cavity wall insulation is correctly installed to the highest standards.
The training rigs will allow delegates to practise pre-installation building inspection, drilling of the appropriate design drill pattern, machine calibration and flow testing, product selection and control, installation and extraction.
A renewable external brick faced wall will form the outer cavity and a solid skin internal cavity with viewing windows will enable visitors and delegates to see the filling process.
Flaws and snags will be introduced to enable delegates to understand what can go wrong and to carry out maintenance activities including extraction of the blown material.
Delegates will learn how to install cavity brushes and protect sub floor ventilation along with treatment of chimney flues.
The NEEC Energy Efficiency House brings together a range of technologies into a single living space providing an opportunity for existing sponsors to add their product into an integrated environment and show how it is applied in practice.
Additionally product suppliers and manufacturers may wish to integrate product into this showcase property as we demonstrate the key elements of building fabric energy efficiency integrated with renewable technologies and low carbon heating, alongside a number of opportunities to integrate innovative technologies such as energy efficient radiators, thermal hot water solutions, smart ventilators, smart building controls and environmental controls help to provide an overall view of the new build and retrofit solutions that will help deliver Net Zero and provide a best possible showcase of the overall capabilities of the industry as a whole.
The NEEC are offering comprehensive courses covering a wide range of renewable technologies including Solar PV and Solar Thermal.
Through a blend of theoretical and practical training, the learner will gain an understanding of how these technologies work as well as hands-on experience of the latest equipment and techniques. Training will cover design, install and maintenance of renewable energy systems.

With the introduction of the recently published IAA career pathways document, the NEEC will be sharing best practices and knowledge to build a sustainable future in energy efficiency.

The SWI Rigs will provide an excellent environment to insulate representative property walls with internal and external wall insulation. Sponsor products will be used to help showcase the types of materials and equipment used in the installation process.
The rigs will consist of two sides of a property and will include window and door openings, meter boxes and internally, services and units.
Internal wall delegates will be trained in the installation of sponsored internal wall insulation systems and practise the techniques associated with removal of services, placement of insulation, battening and boarding, vapour control layers and addressing thermal bridging elements. Visitors will be able to gain key advice on suitable methods and products to achieve the best level of thermal performance.
External wall delegates will be trained in boarding, fixing and pullout testing, render and other finishing techniques as well as understanding thermal bridging, verge trim and roofline extension, the process of extending services and dealing with thermal bridges around window and door reveals.
Visitors will gain a key understanding of the types of products they can choose and the key thermal performance improvements they can achieve when using EWI systems.
The Tool and Equipment Training Pods are areas where practical tools used for the installation of energy efficiency technologies will be featured and stored, as well as utilised in demonstrations and training sessions.

Nigel Donohue, CEO
Nigel has been the Chief Executive Officer of CIGA (Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency) since 2016 and following the launch of The Installation Assurance Authority (The IAA) in April 2020 and The IAA Commercial Services (IAA CS) in October 2021 operates as the Group Chief Executive.
Nigel has led on the development of Insulation and Building Treatments Occupation Standards across the insulation sector and ensured that these are mirrored across the mandatory technical competencies required for the Competent Persons Schemes (CPS).
Under Nigel’s leadership The IAA has grown to be the largest representative body for the insulation sector covering all building fabric measures and it is increasingly expanding its reach across all renewable technologies and low carbon heating. Nigel’s ambition is to grow The IAA’s international brand and ensure The IAA end to end approach becomes the accepted standard across all funded and able to pay energy efficiency retrofit works.
Caroline Kuchta – Managing Director (IAA CS)
Caroline Kuchta has worked in the retrofit industry since 2017 and is the Managing Director of The IAA Commercial Services, a leading provider of services under the CIGA group overseeing a comprehensive portfolio that includes Training, Testing, Surveillance of Assessment, Retrofit Coordination, Design and Non-Standard Systems.
Caroline has previously worked in Communications, Public Relations and Marketing as well as training and assessment for the Construction and Engineering Sector for over 13 years, developing a deep understanding of industry needs and challenges. Caroline is focused on supporting quality, innovation, client satisfaction and supporting industry growth in the Energy Efficiency sector.
Claire Butcher – Head of the NEEC
Claire Butcher joined the team as the Head of the NEEC in May 2024. Claire comes from a background of Training, Development and Management, with 10 years in an Independent Training provider and over 15 years in Banking/Finance Management. Claire is keen to develop new relationships and identify key partners to create meaningful opportunities for collaboration with a focus on understanding and supporting growth within the Retrofit Industry and helping achieve Net Zero.
Hannah Lifshack – HR and Admin Manager
Hannah Lifshack has been with the IAA for the last 7 years and is our HR and Admin Manager. Hannah supports the wider business with any HR needs and then works closely with The IAA CS to support the Training, Testing and Remediation teams.
Hannah brings a wealth of experience from within the Admin function, in a variety of sectors including Training, Construction and Engineering. She ensures the Admin team support the needs of the business to in ‘getting it right first time’, she has a focus on Quality and is key in ensuring business and client needs are met.
Mark Wakeling
Mark joined the IAA in 2023 as a Training Manager. He came to the team with a vast knowledge from within the Energy sector. Mark has spent many years working with domestic energy assessments and the variety of measures involved in supporting a reduction in carbon footprints. He has held a variety of roles including a consultant, Trainer and compliance manager and he will often pull on his experience to share stories and requirements in the sector. Mark supports the team to deliver a quality learning experience and to drive performance in meeting awarding organisations requirements and those within the sector.
Taylor Boutin - Trainer / Assessor
Taylor joined the team in 2021 as a Retrofit Coordinator, he then moved across to the Training team in 2023 as a Trainer/Assessor. Taylor brings expertise and knowledge from within the Green Energy sector. He has worked in a variety of roles including domestic energy assessor, technical officer and green deal advisor this has enabled him to share his knowledge and expertise on installation requirements, measures available and how to improve the warmth and cost effectiveness of a property. Taylors experience has given him all the skills and knowledge to become an excellent trainer to support our learners through a variety of courses including the Level 5 Diploma.
Ian Allinson - Trainer / Assessor
Ian has been working with the CIGA group since 2020 and joined the IAA CS in 2023 as a Trainer/Assessor. Ian has a strong background in Quality having worked as an inspector across many roles in the industry. Ian is well versed in all insulation measures and the requirements of a quality install. Nigel Donohue, CEO
Nigel has been the Chief Executive Officer of CIGA (Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency) since 2016 and following the launch of The Installation Assurance Authority (The IAA) in April 2020 and The IAA Commercial Services (IAA CS) in October 2021 operates as the Group Chief Executive.
Nigel has led on the development of Insulation and Building Treatments Occupation Standards across the insulation sector and ensured that these are mirrored across the mandatory technical competencies required for the Competent Persons Schemes (CPS).
Under Nigel’s leadership The IAA has grown to be the largest representative body for the insulation sector covering all building fabric measures and it is increasingly expanding its reach across all renewable technologies and low carbon heating. Nigel’s ambition is to grow The IAA’s international brand and ensure The IAA end to end approach becomes the accepted standard across all funded and able to pay energy efficiency retrofit works.
Caroline Kuchta – Managing Director (IAA CS)
Caroline Kuchta has worked in the retrofit industry since 2017 and is the Managing Director of The IAA Commercial Services, a leading provider of services under the CIGA group overseeing a comprehensive portfolio that includes Training, Testing, Surveillance of Assessment, Retrofit Coordination, Design and Non-Standard Systems.
Caroline has previously worked in Communications, Public Relations and Marketing as well as training and assessment for the Construction and Engineering Sector for over 13 years, developing a deep understanding of industry needs and challenges. Claire Butcher – Head of the NEEC
Claire Butcher joined the team as the Head of the NEEC in May 2024. Claire comes from a background of Training, Development and Management, with 10 years in an Independent Training provider and over 15 years in Banking/Finance Management. Claire is keen to develop new relationships and identify key partners to create meaningful opportunities for collaboration with a focus on understanding and supporting growth within the Retrofit Industry and helping achieve Net Zero.
Hannah Lifshack – HR and Admin Manager
Hannah Lifshack has been with the IAA for the last 7 years and is our HR and Admin Manager. Hannah supports the wider business with any HR needs and then works closely with The IAA CS to support the Training, Testing and Remediation teams.
Hannah brings a wealth of experience from within the Admin function, in a variety of sectors including Training, Construction and Engineering. She ensures the Admin team support the needs of the business to in ‘getting it right first time’, she has a focus on Quality and is key in ensuring business and client needs are met.
Mark Wakeling
Mark joined the IAA in 2023 as a Training Manager. He came to the team with a vast knowledge from within the Energy sector. Mark has spent many years working with domestic energy assessments and the variety of measures involved in supporting a reduction in carbon footprints. He has held a variety of roles including a consultant, Trainer and compliance manager and he will often pull on his experience to share stories and requirements in the sector. Mark supports the team to deliver a quality learning experience and to drive performance in meeting awarding organisations requirements and those within the sector.
Taylor Boutin - Trainer / Assessor
Taylor joined the team in 2021 as a Retrofit Coordinator, he then moved across to the Training team in 2023 as a Trainer/Assessor. Taylor brings expertise and knowledge from within the Green Energy sector. He has worked in a variety of roles including domestic energy assessor, technical officer and green deal advisor this has enabled him to share his knowledge and expertise on installation requirements, measures available and how to improve the warmth and cost effectiveness of a property.
